Goldie's Year. 2001 "Shellthorn

GREAT EXPECTATIONS.
In February 1999, I read in 'Our Dog' weekly about a "Seven Seas
Ltd Pick of the Litter.1999 / 2000 Completion". I had a Shetland
. sheepdog bitches coming out in April 1999. She is called Shellthorn
Sunbeam, her pet name is Goldie. Last year was a very good year for Goldie,
at her first local show, the breed judge was Mrs Susan Searle, and she
went 'Best in Breed. The Best in Show was Mr R A .W Searle, he gave Goldie
Best Puppy in show.
The week after at the National Working and Pastoral Breeds Championship
Show of Wales she won Puppy Stakes out of a class of 44. Judge was Mrs
F Marshall.What a good feeling it wins gives you, specifically as Goldie
were only 6 months of age.
The entire puppy wins count as puppy points for 'Pick of
the litter'.
As the year went on we had lots and lots of happy days out.
Goldie gained her Junior Warrant at 13 months old.As the months went by
we read in the dog paper that we weretop of the Pastoral Group.
In February received a letter saying,"Congratulation, Goldie was the Winner of the Pastoral Groupand fourth over all, out of total of 300 dogs that took part in the competition".
Therefore we received an invitation to a
"Pick of the Litter" final day,
which was held at the Chesford Grange Hotel, Warwickshire.
We explored the 17acres of private landscaped gardens, which led down to the River Avon. After which we were taken to the suite where the presentation was taken place. They made us feel very welcome, and in one's and the other finalists began to arrive.
The Marketing Manager, Mr Tony Day introduced our guest speaker, Mr Peter Purvis, who gave a most enjoyable speech, full of wit and humour, and then the presentation began. Goldie won two Crystal Trophies and a gift of money. Photographs were taken by "Our Dogs" Magazine Photographer Mr John Holden, which included snaps taken outside on the hotel steps. There were two marble lions in the gardens and Mr Holden took some photos of Goldie sitting on them. At this time we all went for lunch which was a very happy and chatty time we all said our goodbyes and left with a "goody bag" full of "Seven Seas" products. Good luck to anyone who undertakes this most enjoyable time in the year 2003.
